Kathryn Hixson has been writing art criticism from Chicago since 1985. She has contributed to many national and international magazines such as the New Art Examiner, Chicago; Arts Magazine, New York and Flash Art, Milan. She has written many catalogue essays for galleries and museums, and has curated several exhibitions of contemporary art. A studio graduate of the School of The Art Institute of Chicago, she now teaches contemporary art and conceptual art theory in SAIC's Department of Art Criticism, History, and Theory. She was formerly editor of the New Art Examiner.
