Claire Wolf Krantz is an artist, a freelance critic and curator. In her mixed media paintings she incorporates her photographs into fields of abstract painting, often in a hanging scroll format, while her digital images depict similar elements in different combinations. In all these works she addresses issues related to how people construct meaning and a sense of identity for themselves within the context of a diverse world. In particular, her extensive travels and sojourns in Europe and Southeast Asia stimulated an examination of how the visitor, the setting, and/or the people are affected by their mutual encounter. As such, she also explores the idea that memory contains elements of both the "real" and the invented.

Krantz's paintings are represented in Chicago by Perimeter Gallery and her digital work by Flatfile Photographic Gallery . Internationally, she has exhibited in Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Indonesia.

As a writer, Krantz contributes to Art in America as well as other publicatiions. She has organized exhibits for institutions including: The Spertus Museum, The State of Illinois Museums, U-Turn E-magazine, Wood Street Gallery, and the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art , and has been an invited lecturer at various universities in the U.S., Europe, and Indonesia.
